Lifetime premiered the late legendary singer’s Whitney Houston biopic Whitney Saturday January 17th, 2014. The movie was directed by veteran actor/director Angela Bassett, which was the actress’ directorial debut. The movie centers around her relationship/marriage to her ex-husband R&B singer Bobby Brown during the late 80’s and early 90’s. The actress playing Whitney is Yaya Costa, the actor playing Brown is Arlen Escarpeta. Actress Suzzane Douglas played Whitney’s mother Cissy Houston. The movie reveals a lot of details of the rocky relationship and good times her and Bobby shared, it also reveals a miscarriage Whitney had before starting the ground breaking movie The Bodyguard. Soul singer Deborah Cox provided the vocals in the movie performances, since Lifetime were not authorized to use Miss Houston’s vocals or music. Overall, would you call this a great tribute to the late iconic singer?

  1. They could”ve gotten a better Bobby. But the woman playing Whitney was real good. This was good, it needs to be on the big screen though!
