The legendary/ multiple Grammy winning soul singer Patti Labelle, was on the Queen Latifah Show this week, performing the classic hit “If Only You Knew” which was released in 1983 . It’s amazing how she still finds creative ways vocally to sing this song, even the Queen was in amazement by Miss Patti’s superior vocals. You can’t forget the background vocalists who were singing so beautifully. In the interview, Queen Latifah asked her who were her favorite performers were. She mentioned R&B singer Fantasia and soulful singer Christina Aguilera.
Patti Labelle on the two singers and what makes you a great singer:
“I think Fantasia is awesome. She is a mini me. She’s one of those people you should watch out for. Of course Christina Aguilera”
“You have to be a performer, and you have to have that voice… and if you really don’t have the voice to perform, honey. Then make them think you’re good. You must be a performer, you must have a personality”
